No Idea. I have never experienced lack of affection or sex. Gladiators are always in great demand.

Pams girl Glad to see you are still around. We'll keep a welcome in the hillside.
Aussie Oz The term pagan is from the Latin ' paganus' and refers to rural, rustic or of the counrtry. People living in the country who decided not to become Roman Christians were refered to as pagans. So most trees are pagan as they are from the country.

A long long time ago my Grandmother heard a knock at the door ....
by gorgia inhi everyone; this is my first post.
yes, a long long time ago my grandmother, freshly immigrated from post-war england to rural australia, waiting for months for her husband to follow, with only her baby for company, heard a knock at the door.
she opened it and there were two witnesses, who, after hearing how she'd just been crying in the kitchen, begging god for a friend, probably couldn't have believed their luck.

The faithful and discreet slave or faithful and wise servant is believed to refer to any Christian who stays alert and active, increasing the kings belongings until Christ’s return. It could also be a reference to any gladiator that brings glory to Caesar.

the dumbest thing a CO ever said
by nowwhat? in"if it was'nt for the preaching work there would be millions more witnesses" - he was saying jehovah wants quality not quantity.. si i'm thinking, what's the difference as long as he has a people that live by bible standards and are moral.
maybe sharing their hope and faith with friends and relatives on a casual basis?
how backwards is that?.

"Sued shoes should not be allowed on the platform."
"Brothers that allow hair to cover even part of their ears are displaying homosexual tendencies."
“It’s discussing for brothers to find other woman attractive after you have got married. My wife satisfies all my needs.”
“I was in my twenties and married before I found out that homosexuals existed - and I was horrified.”
“Children that won’t pay attention at meetings should be taken out the back and spanked.”
"If you brothers think you will get through Armageddon by lying in bed on a Sunday morning you had better think again!"
How did we survive all this nonesense and become normal?
Hail Caesar!

gorgia Welcome to the forum - yours is an interesting story. My parents were called on in 1959. They lived in post-war south London. Here is the account of what happened. To be honest I didn't write this just now, it is taken from an online book I have just released called 'There's something wrong with that boy.' By Trevor Willis.
"One fateful day something happened that was to alter the lives of my parents forever and set my brother and me on a path that would shape ours. On this summer morning, two smartly dressed men carrying briefcases knocked on our door. They showed concern and seemed to care about mother and what the future held for her. They too felt the world was hostile and unkind. They explained that we were living in the last days of this dying wicked system. God planned to do away with all suffering and reward those that supported him. Mother listened with interest to the message of hope for the future that they bore.
That evening s he told father that the men in suits had been able to answer any question she had asked and show her the answers in their Bible. They had left her with a Watchtower magazine and would be coming back to see what she thought of it and share further truths. Father was sceptical and told her that when they returned he would ask them some difficult questions himself. Always ready to fight his corner and see off impostors, father waited to trounce the two Bible bashers.
The men in suits returned and took up the challenge. Locking horns the battle commenced and they proved to be worthy adversaries. Flicking between verses of scripture at astounding speed they were able to answer every question father hurled at them. Impressed by how well they knew the Bible father agreed to see them again. Soon the smart men in suits with briefcases and fast Bibles were calling every week to conduct an hour-long Bible study with my parents. They seemed to be a godsend. Indeed, they claimed they were."

Derren Brown Fear & Faith
by dozy ini'm a big derren brown fan & enjoyed these episodes - interesting from an ex-jw perspective ( where essentially all of us were fooled , consciously or subconsciously by the society ).. especially interesting is ( in part 2 ) where he convinces a totally atheistic stem cell scientist to have a religious conversion in 15 minutes.
presumably this is the same mechanism where jws become "anointed" ( or where evangelicals become born again etc.
he also touches on subliminal images ( larsinger please note!).

Yes Derren Brown is superb. But then people from the south of England tend to be exceptional. He lives in Clifton , Bristol . I have his book ‘Tricks of the Mind’ and a set of his videos. Watching him is very revealing in terms of how easily the mind can be tricked.
Most people are only partially aware of the many subtle influences that affect their state of mind of what they accept as reality. He is also a successful painter of celebrity caricatures.

Dutchman launches life-sized replica of Noah's Ark
by bats in the belfry inhuibers, a christian, used books 6-9 of genesis as his inspiration, following the instructions god gives noah down to the last cubit.
translating to modern measurements, huibers came up with a vessel that works out to a whopping 427 feet (130 meters) long, 95 feet (29 meters) across and 75 feet (23 meters) high.
story here.. .

Hasn’t the floating Dutchman got better things to do?
Now if I thought the whole earth was about to be flooded and only me and my family were to survive, I wouldn’t make or buy a boat. I would hire one. After the flood it would mine to keep - that’s if all the dead corpses floating around didn’t pollute MY earth.
